As I mentioned in my last post, it's been an interesting transition out of full-time ministry and into full-time seminary.  I have been thinking a lot about this lately, but first, a few updates: I started working at Studio One Dance Company, and am loving it so far!  I am teaching three nights a week in September, and then I'll add a fourth night in October.  I'm teaching ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, strength and conditioning, and doing a ton of private lessons.  TJ is totally in his happy place.  He is loving all his classes and his textbooks -- so much that he reads them even when he doesn't have to, because "they're so good".  Jason just turned nine months old, and is changing more and more every day.  He finally cut his first two teeth, and started crawling (his style is more of a hybrid of inchworm/army crawling, but he gets around anyway).  He says "hi!" when he sees himself in the mirror, and says "dada" and waves a...

It has only been 3 days into orientation week and Nashotah House has already surpassed my expectations.  Life here is just so marvelously different from anything I have ever known.  It is by no means perfect.  However, the Holy Spirit is animating this place in ways that I have never quite encountered before and the people here seem to be responding to the Spirit's work in ways that I have never seen before either.  There is a real unity here and things have only just begun. Our exposure to the faculty so far has been fairly limited (compared to sitting in on class with them).  However, since we are all bound together by a common rule of life, the Rule of St. Benedict, there is much time and space that is shared with them.  We eat together and pray together twice daily.  Furthermore, many of the faculty have led some of our orientation sessions. Hello from Nashotah, WI!  A LOT has happened in the last two weeks, so this post will mostly be an update, with a few personal thoughts thrown in... Our last week in St. Louis was crazy -- we were packing, taking care of an 8-month old, working out logistics for the big move, arranging for utilities to be turned on in WI, arranging for utilities to be turned off in MO, hanging out with friends, visiting our favorite St. Louis places one last time, and dealing with a wide range of emotions.  The house was packed up fairly quickly, due to large amounts of purging that happened this summer.  Spending time with our friends was fun -- we truly do have some wonderful friends!  Saying goodbye was rough, especially to our youth group.  Trinity threw us a very sweet going away party on the Saturday night before we left, and after dinner, the microphone was passed around the room so everyone could share memories.  Funny memories were shared (like the time everyon...

Since we announced this news to our family and friends, there have been lots of questions. Here is our best attempt to answer the most popular ones we have received: 1. Why are you converting to Anglicanism?          TJ: The simple answer is that I have sensed a calling to the priesthood. While I experienced a call to the ministry over a decade ago, I wasn't sure exactly about what facet of ministry I would land in. So, I did a lot of youth ministry since my calling because I was very passionate about sharing God's love with teenagers.  While working as a Youth Minister I began to feel a pull towards something else and I didn't quite realize what this meant until recently.  Why Anglicanism?  Anglicanism embodies priestly ministry in such a way that I can fully connect with.
